There is no reason to go with a no-name, mid-major, up-n-comer hire.
The current roster is playing hard for the current coach. We have two promising bigs that should contribute next year if they avoid injury. Most importantly, KA's recruits will be experienced upperclassmen.
That may still be not enough. I realize this. We still need to get 1 or 2 other bigs that can contribute. Nikko/Smith will be average SEC bigs at best. CVL/Walton/Hughes are sub-par P5 guards. Of the three, only Hughes has the athletic ability to be a good player.
But we can afford to wait another season or two to get the RIGHT guy. If the right guy is available now, then by all means don't let him slip away. But what is the risk of waiting a year for a great coach if one is not available this Spring? We're recruiting for 2 spots, and one is going to have to be a JUCO/grad transfer player anyway. I'm not optimistic when it comes to MU, but please MU, don't kneejerk us into perpetual mediocrity.
