Although I would say there is still a potential for the recruiting to be affected. You have to remember that softball tends to lock in players with verbals very early, so the next few recruiting classes are largely in place, but not completely. Every one of those players is a potential target for other schools to go after prior to their actual signing of an LOI. And I'm sure other schools won't hesitate to talk crap about EE and the events of last year to get a girl to flip.
But we got past the first big 2 hurdles. The current freshmen class all showed up, none of them went elsewhere (although it would have been very difficult for them to have done so). And more importantly, the 2017 class all signed their LOIs in November, we didn't lose a single one, and it is a monster class on paper, deep, plenty of speed and power, and another ace type pitcher.
At this point it would be nice to have a more normal, drama free season, with some national success at least close to our previous standard. If that happens I think our recruiting will be in fine shape and largely unaffected by the crap that went down. All eyes though are going to be on EE this year and how this team comes together.
If we hold on to all our verbals for the 2018 class and add even more, I would say we definitely weathered the potential storm.
