This is not a surprise at all to me. Frankly I thought there was a chance the coaches might put Ole Miss and/or South Carolina ahead of us. We are way closer to #10 Ole Miss in points (8) than we are to #8 Kentucky (22).
The top 6 are pretty much how I would rank them at this point, although after Florida, 2-6 could finish in pretty much any order. TAMU has at least an opportunity to finish much higher in the SEC because they have a joke of a schedule.
Both Georgia and Kentucky are in the same boat with us, losing our ace pitcher, although their losses were to graduation and Lowary just wasn't in the same class as Wilkinson and Nunley. Both are huge losses to those teams, although Georgia generates more runs than an offensively challenged UK team, so I can see them picked at #7.
Until we see how our young pitching staff holds up against the better teams in the country, I don't blame the SEC coaches for being skeptical about Mizzou at this point.
It also wouldn't shock me to see Mizzou not ranked in the national preseason polls. At best we may slip into the 20-25 range.
