do; figure out what the problem was and try to provide him with help to resolve it; probably get his parents involved; and then if all that didn't work, tell him if he didn't start going to class, he would be immediately dismissed from the team.
I would probably have at least a weekly meeting with the players regarding academic performance.
As opposed to Kim's method of like 'wait, you never went to class this whole time?'
This is not that difficult, especially with a basketball team. Monitoring all those football players would be more difficult, but I'm sure Odom does it.
If these folks are students first and athletes second, coaches have a responsibility to make sure the academic part works.
