I think they go too far on the tax cuts, and don't get the revenue growth they could get, and then they spend more....so they become a tax less spend more party. Newt was actually getting that under control with Clinton...I think Bush had intentions of reducing spending, but with 9-11 and then the worsening economy was forced to spend more than initially wanted, but did nothing on the tax side to help at least fill some of the gap.

State GOP governors do a much better job because they are forced to balance a budget at least.
