The Bible is a collection of stories. It is Literature. The figures for the most part are literary figures based in part on historic folks. But they are stories. Not history.

Of all the major religions it is the Christians alone who think their religion is based on historic fact rather than as an awesome allegory - regarding the journey of the soul.
