It is the very quoting of a cherry-picked "scripture" where one finds the problem for those questioning that faith.
The line is WORD OF GOD - finished done, never to be questioned in any fashion ever. MY BOOK SAYS IT, END OF DISCUSSION.
Wow, that's pretty heavy-handed. And it is also - that very quote open to varying interpretations, one of which is EXACTLY what I have been saying. GIVE UP EVERYTHING for GOD. That is the "through me" portion of your quote. This is also - something that the Nazarene is alleged to have said. TRUE believer says BULLSHT - if it is in the scriptures, end of story it is true. Kind of hard to have a discussion when the point of view with which you are presented is a brick wall.
"You will do far greater things than I have done" Jesus is also alleged to have said. WHAT ? Yeah, you have to take it all.
Again, there is no discussion. My book says it. It is fact. It is done.
One of the curiousities of the Faith is the Christians think it is based on history on facts rather than myth.
