actually trust the people to choose the president. The two candidates put forth this time pretty much validate that view. The founders would probably have no issues with his decision to buck the voters will. But this is not 250 years ago it is today and the voters expect the electors to follow their will.

The quickest way to destroy the electoral college is for a few people to do exactly what he suggest.
