Why would you put any cash into R&D knowing that anyone

could simply copy it from you once you released it?

Seriously this is about a third grade concept. Why is Pickle struggling with it so?

There would still be R&D but companies would put very strict time and money limits on it. All start up cost would have to be recouped on a product's initial release our you would never get them back.

Imagine writers. As soon as you released a book anyone could scan or download it and put it right back on the market at almost no cost to them. You just spent six months writing a novel and ten minutes after release some yokel in North Dakota has it up on eBay for a dime per download. Not much profit for the author there.

But hey, Pickle says you cannot own ideas so authors and musicians can just bugger off and accept it right?
