There are provisions in the initiative that would prohibit funding research on the harmful effects of smoking, specifically the impact of second hand smoke on young children.

And it would undermine the 2006 Missouri Stem Cell amendment that gives protections to scientists engaging in such research. This could allow for the General Assembly to pass restrictive, anti-science legislation
