“When I took the position two years ago, we made the decision — not only as a coaching (staff), but as an administration — that we were going to build this program pretty much with younger guys, start with freshmen and build it up.”

The first recruit brought in without prior connections was 5th year graduate transfer Keith Shamburger, who also played the same position as the second most experienced inherited player on the roster. The next class consisted of 3 transfers. Many of the players we recruited but didn’t sign were JUCOs. 8 of the players who came to MU as freshman have left since Kim took over.
Now we find ourselves in a position with only 1 eligible player who is not a freshman or sophomore, and that guy avged 0.9 ppg and 1.7 rebounds in SEC play in his only year in D1. But that was not by design. 2 years ago we already had a young roster, that is what was inherited. If that was truly the plan 2 years ago, then they wasted 2 years.
