You can say he didn't retain players all you want, but I see no benefit in retaining many of those. J3 was a loss, and Teki was from a talent standpoint.

but...
Biedscheid was a headcase, no KA'a fault
Torren Jones was good but also had issues
Rector...meh
Clark, skips class, quit the team
Bello, not a d1 player IMO
Allen, nobody wants him
Payne is a mystery
Isabell, whatever
Wright was ok, played a lot, never clicked
Gant, athletic but not the 4 star as advertised

And to note: only 6 players that actually played for Kim left the team.
