He won 9 games his first season with a team that won 24 and 23 the previous 2 years.

He won 10 games the next season.

What would constitute "really screwing up" his first two seasons if 9, 10 wins back to back doesn't?

Does *any* coach inherit a situation where the previous two seasons the team wins 24, 23 games? Usually it's much worse than that at a P5 school.
