First of all, Quin was a BIG hire that we could never pull off now. Norm Stewart made the Quin hire possible, and Quin could recruit big time talent (at least initially).
MA came in and built a roster similar to how KA is doing it. Denmon was a Missouri kid. He also used his personal connections to land some big time players, and picked up some good JUCO players. But instead of translating his success into stable recruiting, he got lazy and started shooting for the stars, leaving us with nothing after his seniors departed.
Haith did nothing, period. He had success with MA's team, and then proceeded to do nothing on the recruiting front. Suitcase didn't leave him anything after that first team however. So Haith was really the first to start recruiting anywhere and everywhere out of desperation.
In Haith's last season, the wheels came off the cart. Clarkson and Brown were able to get some wins, but the team looked and played terrible. They did not even resemble a team on the court. The roster was made up of journeymen, only Rosburg having Missouri roots.
This is what KA walked into. He's tried to grab some top talent, but time has caught up with us. Mizzou doesn't have the program history to back up a strong sales pitch to a top recruit. We have to start winning again, and stabilizing the roster is the starting point to that.
