even though an HC position would be exempt. Cooper did not want to wait while other attractive HC jobs were filled and be left out in the HC game of musical chairs, so he accepted the Arizona State job. At that point, Woody seemed to be the only viable candidate remaining and we know how that turned out. Babs didn't make the call, she just reaffirmed it, although her actions indirectly led to it.
