Do you equate every 'comment of support' with 'being an enabler'? Just wondering, that's how your post came across. Almost every comment of support I've read (or written) here acknowledges he has used rough language that he sometimes regrets, and he himself has said the very same thing. The question is do his past actions/words constitute a fireable offense?
EE is very open and honest with the kids and their parents when recruiting. He explains exactly the kind of coach he is, what he expects, what his approach is. I've heard of him saying to potential recruits and their parents that if they can't stand for an ass-chewing on occasion, intended to make them a better player, then maybe they should consider another school and another coach.
And further, you know it's quite possible, just knowing human behavior and individual differences, that one girl takes an ass-chewing and laughs it off and/or uses it to motivate herself and it's no big deal, and the exact same ass-chewing given to a different girl is taken differently, perceived differently, they are hurt and upset by it, complain about it, etc. that's just human nature and individuality.
I will be shocked if the complaints, if and when they are ever detailed, constitute any more than that. If there was any significant harmful verbal abuse (and there has never even been a hint of anything more than verbal stuff), or any potential harm to anyone on the team, then Mizzou would/should have removed EE during the season. It would have been unconscionable for the AD to do otherwise. Putting females, and female athletes at risk of harm is not a good career move for coaches and AD's anymore, thank god (except if you are the slimeballs at FSU). That fact remains the biggest thing in EE's favor, and put MR in a difficult situation before he slunk out of town, the fact that whatever the allegations were they were not of a substantial enough nature to remove him to 'protect anyone'.
