I didn't see that recommendation in your earlier posts. Of course, even there it would be cutting out a lot of schools, teams and fan bases & large chunks of the country from having a shot at the national title, or even playing with the big boys in the playoffs. fwiw, I would think that would diminish interest in the game somewhat in those areas.

It would also probably make things difficult to move teams up from a 2nd tier conference, especially if that required demoting teams from the SEC or B1G if they were having a stretch near the bottom of the conference rankings.
