SEC and B1G are paying these teams to play them right now anyway. that won't change. if a sunbelt team or mountain west team or b12 team want to fund their athletic program, they'll find space on their schedules for games against SEC / B1G teams. and if they're really smart they'll try to get at least one home game a year against a SEC / B1G team.
this "playoff resume" you reference is irrelevant. real playoffs are determined by your record in your division. win your division, you're in the playoff. fail to win your division, better luck next year. division winners face each other until they get to the conference championship, then the winner of that faces the other conference champion. that's your championship. for teams that didn't win their division, they might get a nice consolation prize of an exhibition game in a nice sunny location where they play another non-division-winner or a really successful mid-major champion. we'll call those "bowl games"
there's nothing revolutionary or complicated here. it's pretty straight forward.
