contracts. I think they'd rather be saddled with a guy they don't necessarily want but can't run off rather than to have to fight off poachers every year. And for the sake of the sanity of the sport it needs to happen. This wild west of players jumping ship or at least testing the waters every year is not good for the sport overall.
