every country wants to protect their own to some extent, which is why most countries impose their own tariffs. When there are countries like China and India, it becomes almost impossible to compete with them due to labor costs combined with the expense of unions in other countries. Leaders can get on social media and act outraged, but they know what Trump just did isn't really different than what they're already doing. How they react to that is yet to be seen.
