product doesn’t use components (raw material) globally sourced and there isn’t a consumer base willing to pay a little more. As long as either of those are present, your price as a consumer almost assuredly has gone up so you’re paying the tax.
In my business world, everything I buy and sell has gone up due to tariffs whether it’s a domestic product or imported product. I do understand that my business world is a tiny portion of our economy. But the two things above make up for a much larger percentage of our economy than most want to admit.
Tariffs are good for my business so I’m not really against them but also not high fiving about them. The worst thing that could happen is to remove them after a year or so. I was afraid Biden was going to repeal 232, but he surprisingly left them alone.
