there is no defending any part of what USAID has done in its totality - none of the juice is worth the squeeze.
Department of Education also is indefensible on its pathetic record.
Going after Interest is already happening by cutting spending - and Treasury is going to be addressing that more directly because it's their direct purview
Medicare, Social Security are structured as entitlements - and so are not the same animal as USAID or DoEd, for starters. You are presenting a false equivalence in that regard (and therefore framing falsely). Who's to say there won't be a serious audit or three teed up to come?
DoD also has a Constitutional core function - and at least some track record of success (unlike department of Education). Again, who's to say there won't be some audit teed up or that it's already happening. I'm sure there are similar or worse slush funds to be found there because the DoD has failed audits.
On the other hand, when we *know* USAID was making political contributions ($27M to George Soros prosecutors' fund) and subsidizing politically slanted media (Politico and BBC) why not knock off such distasteful and unethical behavior immediately?
