Which player from last season could replace Kobe’s production offensively and defensively? Carter? Vanover? Answer: No one.

The same was true for Hodge. Who replaced him harassing ball handlers, generate turnovers? Or 3-pt shooting. Or finishing the fast break? No one.

Who replaced Gholston’s penchant for making big plays in dire situations? No one.

The 4/5 positions produced basically useless. That’s a talent issue no amount of coaching can fix. East III, Bates, and Honor kept them in games.

To suggest that the 2023-2024 team had similar player components, i.e. players, as 2022-23 or this year’s team or that DG couldn’t/didn’t coach in year two is silly.

He didn’t have talent to finish against SEC teams, they barely had enough to beat lower-level teams.
