I've been thinking about getting an ipad

to use a remote control app (Roomie). Also, my new stereo's setup is all going to be web based soon. Roomie isn't going to be available for Android, but I really like it. I can't find anything similar for Android and since Harmony dropped out of the universal remote game, there really isn't much good that's out there for universal remotes unless you really want to spend big bucks.

The big problem is I hate everything about Apple with every atom in my body. But I'm thinking I can live with it for this very limited use case. The problem is Roomie requires a fairly recent ipad/IOS version so I can't just buy a cheap one off ebay like I would prefer.

I'm probably going to bite the bullet, but your post reminded me why I hate Apple so much.
