We will be 11-4 going into the SEC season, which means we will need a 5-11 record in SEC games to finish at .500 and qualify for the WNIT or whatever it is now. Although I think we could get in with a sub .500 record under certain circumstances.
Where we would get 5 SEC wins is anyone’s guess. We would need to sweep the other worst teams in the conference (Georgia, Arkansas, TAMU, Florida), then upset one of the second tier teams like an Auburn or Miss St, which is unlikely, but not impossible.
Maybe that’s why Pingeton scheduled so poorly in non conference play (although that is a habit for her, regardless of the talent on the team). To rack up 10-12 easy wins and get a shot to make it into the WNIT even with an awful conference record, knowing she wouldn’t get remotely close to the NCAA tournament.
