Thank goodness this miserable non conference schedule is coming to a close soon, after we play Jackson St, another bad team. One site has our non conference SOS at 340. That’s out of 362 teams.
For the first time this year WBB is including the quadrant system as a factor in choosing at large teams for the tournament. MBB has already been using it.
Here is what Pingetons miserable scheduling has resulted in:
0 games played against Quadrant 1 teams
0 games played against Quadrant 2 teams
3 games played against Quadrant 3 teams. We are 0-3 in those games, against NET 74 Oral Roberts, 100’Syracuse, 121 Vermont. None of those games were even close.
And a shining 10-1 record (soon to be 11-1) against Quadrant 4 teams. Those wins mean absolutely nothing to the selection committee. The loss at home to 120 Norfolk St of course does. In the wrong way.
At least when SEC games start we will be forced to face current Quadrant 1 and 2 teams, 12/16 games will be against them. I will be shocked if we don’t go 0-12 in those games.
The 4 most winnable conference games appear to be:
Quadrant 3 teams: NET 60 Florida at home, NET 91 TAMU on the road.
Quadrant 4 teams: Road games against 135 Georgia and 152 Arkansas
Welcome for the cheery holiday news.
Merry Christmas everyone!
