and it having to be in the first half of the season, all has to do with qualifying for a medical redshirt. Not the situation with Morrissey and the 5 other freshmen not having seen the court prior to this weekend.
It would help a lot if someone had a link to the NCAA volleyball rules, which I can’t find online.
I’m basing the non medical redshirt being blown the first time the player sees any action on the court, even for a single point in one set, on a redshirt discussion thread on Volleytalk from several years ago. They have some pretty knowledgeable people there. But again, without the rule book citation it’s all talk.
