still think that it would be more precise/accurate to say that "this statute is unjust, because..."

rather than... 'this isn't a crime'

The legislature does have the authority to write laws, and if the governor or president or whoever signs the statute into law some actions are unquestionably, objectively "a crime". Some of those laws are way out of date. Some were poorly written in the first place. Some are gravely misinterpreted or applied. Some are unconstitutional. Some are unjust.

fwiw, I think it would solve a lot of unnecessary argumentation and 'talking past each other' to be a little more precise with the language and spell out why one thinks a law is unjust, or unconstitutional, or unfairly applied or whatever and argue, if necessary, over the real issues, rather than semantic ones.

Just my two cents worth.
