Ensoulment is a red herring at this point, especially when argued by non-believers.

The bottom line is that we do not know when ensoulment occurs, but we do know when a human being comes into existence. The former is a theological question, the latter is a scientific one.

Virtually everyone, regardless of religious beliefs, agrees that intentionally killing an innocent human being is immoral.

That settles the IVF question, or certainly should.
