but when I lived on the West Coast I went all the time. It's just like golf or other hobbies in the sense that you should just buy the bare minimum to get started and see if you really enjoy it before you go balls out with the REI Platinum card.
Not sure where you are, but if you're in Missouri it's pretty underrated in terms of parks and sights for camping.
But it's close to a lot of really cool places to camp, including the Smokies.
What sucks is that the weather sweet spot to camp comfortably is like a month. Anyone other time you'll either be picking bugs off your sweaty nads or freezing your frozen nads off. LOL
