if it is a family thing but our last hike/camp trip was about 8-14 miles a day with at least a 1 mile vertical/day.

Took its toll and on the last day one guy was in trouble and I carried about 1/4 of his gear, he carried about 1/4 (water & backpack) and we buried the rest and he barely made it IMO. Almost slept on a slope while others went ahead to get help. Ohhh and a helicopter ride is like $50K

remember water is 8lbs per gallon. Or you can purify creek water but it ain't great and what if the creek is dry
