Most of the teams didn't have difficult non conference schedules and generally lost when they encountered decent teams. Tennessee was the exception scheduling 4 highly ranked teams but they only won one (Illinois). That win plus Kentucky's win over North Carolina and Arkansas's win over Duke were the only three marquee wins for SEC teams in the non conference and Kentucky and Arkansas both lost to a couple low majors as well. Go figure.

The SEC was pretty inconsistent all season. Not too surprised to see those particular teams didn't do well on day 1.
