I assume the women's basketball games were from major conferences, and the men's games not on tv (or at least YTTV) are from mid majors, both of which have overall different tv contracts.
FWIW, in checking ESPN app, most of those men's college basketball games are on ESPN+, so it is on streaming.
In the early days of the NFL, the networks lost big time money on NFL contracts, but they saw the popularity of those big enough to help support their prime time networks series due to advertising or people just not switching tv channels (before remotes, and yes I lived those days, ughhh).
I do know in the last several years, I have noticed that men's games were generally on Saturday, and women's games were generally on Sunday. I think SEC still follows that model. Big Ten does not completely.
