“You know, sometimes coaches don't want to take the blame and want to put it all on the players. I'm not that type of coach . . . Even though I don't miss jump shots, wide open shots, and don't miss free throws, I'm still a big part of it and I take a lot of responsibility.”
Indiana coach Mike Woodson, deflecting the blame for his team’s struggles.
The fact that Gates keeps telling us what a great job he and the coaching staff are doing is just weird.
That's like Mun Choi seeing a drop in enrollment at Mizzou and a loss of accreditation (neither is happening under his watch by the way) and saying he's doing a great job.
Or a sales guy who doesn't just miss his sales quota - but sets an all-time record for lost sales - talking about what a great salesman he is.
It's as if Gates is living in the Twilight Zone and is in an alternative universe with his comments about how great our coaching has been.
I know, I know, I've said this more than once - but the Mike Woodsen quote just reminded me of how a mature fully aware head coach should handle a situation like the catastrophe this season has been.
