ready to surrender before the first one. That's what we're discussing. I agree the second one was probably a little quick, given they were not a threat at that point.
Japan was given an ultimatum from the U.S. and Britain on 7/16, three plus weeks before the first one. On what basis were they trying (unsuccessfully) to surrender?
