it is being done to think about what the law is and how it is being enforced.

Is anyone actually be infringed upon by breaking the law, and does the State really need to intervene?

I think everyone knows two things

1. What a law is
2. That enforcement will not be equal

But you have a new group (maybe not new, but more vocal) suggesting maybe we re-think if that law should be there in light of re-thinking crime. Partly because re-thinking crime is much more based on logic vs emotion.
