Last year's win total was based on 3 things:
(1) an historically weak schedule
(2) extreme statistical "luck" in close 50/50 games
(3) talent inherited from the previous coach, in particular Kobe Brown.
Take away *any* of those 3 things, and last year's team never would have had the opportunity to get blown out by Princeton in the NCAA Tourney.
And now, a coach that never should have been hired in the first place has a $25M buyout.
