going to absolutely tank the US banking system.

It's not like repossessing a house where a bank can recoup their money if they have to forcelose because a single family home is ridiculously easly to sell. Hell, banks would probably profit on most foreclosures, selling for WAY more than the defaulted loan values.

A bank forecloses on a $50million corporate office building and there's no buyer to sell it to. Large-scale offices are functionally done. When commercial loans valued in the 10s or 100s of millions start defaulting and the banks just have to eat it...thats a big problem
