It's 100% hearsay other than Deaton was tight with the Florida President at the time and that greased skids for us to get into the SEC.

I have not heard an interview with anyone in the know that said "Mizzou turned down the Big 10's bad offer"

I could be wrong but everything I've read has been on this board and it hasn't been linked to anything credible.
