Scholarship. Nobody with a clue would give him a direct NIL deal, and Gates would have to be effing stupid to give him a bunch of money out of the limited and precious quantities of the collective to pay his own way. I don’t think Gates is stupid. Although I do question his judgment in allowing this to happen, there is zero value in bringing Brown back onto the team.
NIL money is for supplementing the scholarships of the top level players or to maybe find a way to squeak a guy like Mosley on when you are out of scholarships. It is not for enticing the worst guy on the team to stick around.
