it's a very similar case if the Louisville police identified themselves. How "reasonable" was the shooter's belief that there was an immediate threat that wasn't justified under color of law? If they didn't identify themselves clearly, then someone busting down your door in the middle of the night is going to cause a lot of "reasonable" people to use their weapon.
So, transfer the facts here. If the kid knocked and was waiting on the front porch for someone to answer the door, then it seems unreasonable for the old man to open the door and start shooting. If the kid rang the doorbell and started trying to open the door because he was familiar with the folks he thought he was going to, it gets more muddled.
I don't think we know all the facts and a lot of it is going to depend on credibility.
