That is the distinction between moral law, which is timeless, and the ceremonial law, which was used to separate the lifestyle of Jews from Gentiles, and was no longer followed after the time of Christ's death and resurrection. In that period there was the introduction of Christian liberty in how one lives that holds to the moral law while allowing for a relaxing of much if not all of the ceremonial law.
