It was 1967, I was 12 years old, and I believe it was homecoming vs. K State. Growing up in King City, Mo., I had never seen anything like Memorial Stadium. The crowd, the band, I thought it couldn't get any better ... and then one of my hometown heroes, Roger Wehrli, returned a punt for a touchdown. I was hooked.
