Not entirely true. Most corn ethanol plants, when they remove the sugars from corn, there is a by product called distillers grain. This product is the "waste" of the ethanol process, and still contains a lot of nutritional resources as a livestock food. A lot of corn growers supply ethanol plants, who supply distillers grain to feed lots, who provide manure back to the corn growers for fertilizer. It's a very good process.
