That’s a lot of land permanently taken over.

If there are approximately 100,000,000 single family homes (not counting all the other buildings) in the USA, at 1000 per 5 acres and 640 acres per square mile, you’d need 500,000 acres or 780 square miles of solar panels.

Lots of land.
