Kim Anderson wasn’t a serious hire. It was the University throwing up its hands and saying “we quit.” There are no circumstances under which he would or could have succeeded in any fashion as coach here.
Cuonzo was at least a serious hire. But he’s not getting the job done. If you give him another year, what do we change in the program and the department to set him up for success in a way that he has not been set up to this point?
New assistants? More recruiting budget? More university enabling of NIL?
Keeping things the same and hoping Cuonzo does better isn’t an option. So either he’s gone or the university changes approach. Doing nothing and hoping for a different outcome than we’ve seen in the majority of his tenure isn’t realistic.
