by 5 or less, marking significant improvement from the previous year. 6 losses by 5 points or less in conference, 3 by 3 points.
He had to go.
Remember?
8-24 (2-16)
24 losses by a total of 259 points, 10.8 ppg. Inflated by 39 point loss to Florida. All other games 9.6 ppg.
2 losses by 20 or more points. In his third year, not his fifth.
There were also multiple NCAA issues which were an albatross on the program.
Clearly, that didn't amount to turning the corner.
This year 10 losses by 209 points. 20.9 point average. 1 loss by less than 10 points. Take out his worst, 43 to Arkansas, you still have 18.4 loss per game.
And some want to say that we "are doing better", and this is watchable. Somehow, we have turned the corner, in Martin's fifth year, with all of his own players.
When losing by 10 points has gone from need to fire a third year coach to not currently an embarrassment to the university for a fifth year coach, something is seriously wrong.
