was written in to get a better understanding of the intent of the author. Being removed by 1900+ years for the New Testament and even more for the Old Testament, we can read into the text with 21st century western cultural biases and misunderstand the author.

But deliberately forcing 21st century cultural biases on the text is willingly perverting the authorial intent. Then also turning around and rejecting some of the text because it does not line up with modern worldly culture is Satanic.
