at first century historical accounts. History was written when those who partook of events or were eyewitnesses were still alive. Written word had lesser value because you could not ask questions of it where you could with eyewitnesses.
The Gospels were written by those who were either eyewitnesses or spoke directly with eyewitnesses and were recorded in written word before they all died off.
There is none of this oral tradition being passed around with changes being made from story teller to story teller as Ehrman implies without evidence.
