Most teachers do not give a royal rat's rectum about the unions.
Less than half the teachers in every school I have ever taught in were union members. Of those that were most were in the union for insurance and the legal protections that were included. Union dues are usually cheaper than what it would cost to go out and purchase professional insurance on your own.
No school that I have ever taught in had more than a handful of active union members and those people were never leaders of the school.
